Credits & usage
How FluentChat meters AI usage — what a credit is, your monthly allotment, top-ups, and overage.
Every AI reply your agents produce spends credits from your workspace's balance. This page explains how that works.
What a credit is
1 credit = 10,000 tokens. That's roughly one typical message — the prompt, the reply, and the behind-the-scenes routing that decides how to answer. Tokens are the underlying unit; credits are just the friendlier way to read them.
Your balance
Your balance comes from two places:
- Your plan's monthly allotment, refreshed each billing period.
- Top-ups you buy — one-time credit packs that add to your balance.
The billing page shows credits used versus available, and a low-balance notice appears as you run down.
Top-ups
Buy a credit pack any time from the billing page's Top-ups tab. If you have a card on file, the purchase is instant; otherwise you're taken to secure Stripe checkout. Credits are added to your balance on success.
Overage
On eligible plans, if you run out of included credits mid-period, usage can continue as overage and is billed on your next invoice (up to a cap). On plans without overage, usage simply pauses until the balance refreshes or you top up.
What spends credits
Any AI work spends credits — chat replies and voice transcription among them. Actions that just call your own endpoints or look things up don't cost extra credits beyond the AI turn itself.
