Building agents

Settings

Working hours, off-topic replies, languages, branding, images, voice, and the export and delete controls.

The Settings page holds the agent's operational options, grouped into a few areas. Change what you need and click Save settings.

Working hours

By default your agent replies 24/7. Turn on working hours to have it respond only during set times:

  • Start and end time (24-hour, e.g. 09:0018:00)
  • Active days of the week
  • Timezone

Outside those hours the agent sends a short "we're closed" reply instead of answering.

Hand off to human

Decide when a conversation should leave the bot and reach a person. You can add deterministic rules (phrase match, topic match, repeated question, turn count) and optionally let the AI escalate on its own. This has its own page:

Off-topic reply

When the agent declines a request that's outside its scope, it sends the message you set here (up to 500 characters). Leave it blank for a neutral default, or write something on-brand, for example:

I'm just the sales assistant for Acme — what are you shopping for?

A Suggest button offers a starting point based on the agent's name.

Keep this message neutral and true to the agent's job. It's sent to visitors word-for-word.

Languages

If your plan includes multi-language support, turn it on and choose which languages the agent may reply in from a list of 20+ (each shown with its native name). With it on, the agent asks the visitor's preferred language and mirrors whatever they write, politely explaining if they use a language you haven't enabled. With it off, the agent stays in a single language.

Branding

Hide the "Powered by FluentChat" footer in the widget (available on plans that include this feature), and set conversation starters — up to 8 tappable suggestion chips shown under the greeting, each 64 characters or fewer. Tapping one sends it as the visitor's first message. (Colors, greeting, and logo live on the Playground.)

Images and voice

  • Accept images — let visitors attach photos, which the agent can understand and reply about. Requires a plan with image understanding.
  • Allow voice — let visitors send voice messages, which are transcribed to text for the agent. Requires a plan with the voice feature. See Voice.

If your plan later stops including one of these, a banner explains that the toggle is unavailable.

Export and delete

  • Export downloads the agent as a portable .json template, with all secrets and connections removed. See Export & import.
  • Delete agent permanently removes the agent. You confirm by typing the agent's slug. This is only available to workspace owners and can't be undone.

Deleting an agent is permanent — its conversations, leads, knowledge, and configuration are removed. Export it first if you might want it back.
